weight of evidence
Weight of evidence is a measure of evidence on one side of an issue as compared with the evidence on the other side of the issue, or to measure the evidence on multiple issues.
Weight of evidence approach
Animal tests can be avoided if there is a weight of evidence which points to the likely properties of a substance. This approach may be applied if there is sufficient information from several independent sources leading to the conclusion that a substance has (or has not) a particular dangerous property, while the information from each single source alone is regarded insufficient to support this assertion.
