Two Institutes of the Joint Research Centre, the Institute for Health and Consumer Protection and the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies, co-organise this workshop in the framework of the Enlargement and Integration Initiative.

The workshop will present the state of play regarding policies addressing obesity among young and adolescents in Europe and neighbourhood countries, focusing on those that could be supported successfully via the implementation of social-network based feedback and incentive mechanisms. The insights from the workshop shall be used to exchange best practice and to propose new policy measures for soft feedback based policy interventions for improving dietary and physical-activity habits of young people. 


  • Participants' profile: Scientists, representatives of public administration and NGOs dealing with public health issues, specifically with the issue of obesity and prevention policies aiming at the reduction of its spread amongst the younger population.

  • Country of origin of participants:  Focus on participants from New Member States, Candidate Countries, Potential Candidate Countries, FP7 Associated Countries, on an ad hoc basis European Neighbourhood Policy Countries and Russia.
