ENCR-JRC Collaboration and Official Website Launch
FLASH INFO – LAUNCHING OF THE ENCR/JRC WEBSITE - August 2013
|Contact Name||JRC, Cancer Policy Support|
The European Network of Cancer Registries (ENCR) endorsed the JRC's role in hosting its secretariat, representing a major milestone for the JRC and opening the door towards the coordination and harmonisation of cancer data in Europe. The transfer of the ENCR's administrative functions from Lyon (IARC) to the JRC includes, among other tasks, the provision of an active information-exchange infrastructure as a means of keeping the cancer registries within the network abreast of developments.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS TO DATE
- The updated ENCR website, previously hosted by IARC, was migrated to a new domain: www.encr.eu, and its official launch was announced by open letter 01/08/2013 to ENCR-affiliated registries. The website will be maintained and further developed by the JRC, to offer the cancer registry community an updated information-exchange platform.
- The ENCR Newsflash has been revised and updated. The first JRC issue has been distributed to the cancer registries and has been made publicly available for download from the ENCR website.
- New contact details for the ENCR Secretariat, including a dedicated mailbox (), were made available to cancer registries.
- A new visual identity and logo have been adopted for the ENCR—providing a common 'look and feel' for all ENCR products.
POTENTIAL IMPACT AND FUTURE STRATEGY
The collaboration between the JRC and the ENCR will facilitate the future coordination of cancer registries and harmonisation of cancer data across Europe, giving renewed focus at the political level. Moreover, this collaboration will play an essential role in guiding further development of the European cancer data system, thereby influencing cancer-related healthcare policy in Europe.
