Organised by the Joint Research Centre, Institute for Health and Consumer Protection (IHCP), Nanobiosciences Unit, and the coordinators of the European FP7 Projects HINAMOX, NANOPOLYTOX, NEPHH and ENPRA, the symposium “Safety issues and regulatory challenges of nanomaterials” presented the latest scientific progress and policy developments in the field of nanosafety and gathered the main protagonists of the nanotechnology communities (scientists of FP6-7 projects, SMEs, nanotechnology industry, representatives of EU national authorities, the EC and OECD representatives).

A JRC Technical Report summarizing the symposium activities and 27 symposium presentations are now available for download on this site.

As the Commission's in-house science service, the Joint Research Centre's mission is to provide EU policies with independent, evidence-based scientific and technical support throughout the whole policy cycle.
