The Report on "Early Harvest of Research Results on Nanosafety – Joint CASG-Nano and FP7 ENPRA workshop" is now available on-line (download files below).

The event - held on 14-15 April 2010 in Ispra (Italy) - aimed at informing the stakeholders of the latest scientific progress in the field of nanomaterials risk assessment.
It gathered the main protagonists of the Nanosafety community (scientists of FP6-7 projects, SME, nanotechnology industry, representatives of EU national authorities, the EC and OECD representatives). Speakers from 22 different organisations met in plenary and break-out sessions.

Background information
In 2008 the European Commission established the Competent Authorities Subgroup on Nanomaterials (CASG Nano). The group is expected to present advice and recommendations to the European Commission and ECHA on how nanomaterials are to be handled in the various processes under the REACH regulation.
Launched in May 2009, the ENPRA project is a new European Framework 7 project aiming at developing a novel integrated approach for risk assessment of engineered nanoparticle (ENP). It is led by the Institute of Occupational Medicine (IOM) and can count on the knowledge and capabilities of 21 partners from EU and USA, including the Joint Research Centre (JRC).
This workshop was the first ENPRA Stakeholders’ Information Workshop and was organized jointly with the CASG Nano.
