ICATM
On April 27, 2009, representatives from four international agencies signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) establishing an International Cooperation on Alternative Test Methods (ICATM).
These 4 agencies are:
- for Japan: Japanese Center for the Validation of Alternative Methods (JaCVAM)
- for the U.S.: National Toxicology Program (NTP) Interagency Center for the Evaluation of Alternative Toxicological Methods (NICEATM), a component of the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, administering the U.S. Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM);
- for E.U.: ECVAM (the European Center for Validation of Alternative Methods)
- for Canada: Environmental Health Science and Research Bureau within Health Canada.
The agreement promotes enhanced international cooperation and coordination on the scientific validation of non- and reduced-animal toxicity testing methods.
On March 8, 2011, following signature of an agreement, ICATM expanded to include a fifth member, KoCVAM (the Republic of Korea's Centre for the Validation of Alternative Methods).
